2020-21 UEFA Nations League Matchday 3 of 6 Report - Sunday, October 11, 2020 Croatia…
UEFA Champions' League Group G – Kiev Olympic Stadium – Tuesday, 20th October 2020
Attendance: 14,850.
Juve coach, AC Milan and Italian legend Andrea Pirlo, enjoyed his first win as a manager in Europe's premier competition, when his side beat Dyanamo Kiev 0-2 away in Ukraine in a Group G opener on Tuesday.
With Cristiano Ronaldo ruled out after being tested positive, Dejan Kulusevski was paired with ex-Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata up front.
The Kulusevski, Morata and Federico Chiesa combine created chances in the first half but could not produce goals as the game went goalless into the interval at the Kiev Olympic Stadium where pretty decent crowds of near 15,000 strong turned up.
The Serie champions suffered an early setback when defender Giorgio Chiellini hobbled out with a hamstring injury and had to be substituted in the 19th minute.
After an uneventful first-half, Juve were a much improved side and were rewarded within a minute of the interval when Morata reacted quickly to a rebound from a Kulusevski shot and steered the ball past Kiev custodian Heorhiy Bushchan.
The Spaniard headed home from close range for his second of the night in the 84th minute.
Despite the limited crowd roaring encouragement, Kiev struggled to create decent opportunities on their return to the Champions League after a four-year absence as the Italian giants coasted to a comfortable win.
Juventus host Barcelona in their next group game on October 28, while Dynamo Kiev travel to Hungary to play Ferencvaros.
