2020-21 English Premier League match report – King Power Stadium – Sunday, October 18, 2020

Leicester City 0 Aston Villa 1

Aston Villa's dream start to the Premier league continued as they registered their fourth straight win at the King Power stadium, stunning hosts Leicester City 0-1 on Sunday night.

A drab Sunday night encounter seemed to be heading towards a goalless draw until Ross Barkley's 91st-minute strike. Till then, both goalkeepers were hardly tested throughout the game.

The only attempts came from Douglas Luiz's 25-yard curler that went straight at Leicester custodian Kasper Schmeichel, while Villa's Emiliano Martinez was able to par away Youri Tielemans' deflected long-range strike and also an effort from Kelechi Iheanacho at goal.

Villa, who were on the back foot in the opening half, came forward with more purpose after the beak and went close in the 51st minute when central defender Ezri Konsa headed inches wide.

Villa captain Jack Grealish tried making an impact but Trezeguet was not able to convert his cut-back under pressure from Foxes defender James Justin.

Then out of blue came the winner from Chelsea loanee Ross Barkley with a stinging low shot from 25 meters that left Leicester goalkeeper Schmeichel grasping for thin air.

After the King Power result Villa are just one point behind leaders Everton at 12 but with a game in hand while Leicester remain at 4th with 9 points.
