Man Utd keeper Dean Henderson extends loan at Sheff Utd
Sheffield United have extended Manchester United keeper Dean Henderson’s loan at the club until the end of the season.
Henderson, 23, helped the Blades secure promotion last season.
The Bramall Lane club are eighth in the Premier League with seven games left of this campaign.
Meanwhile, Manchester United midfielder Angel Gomes is likely to leave the club when his contract expires on 30 June, says manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Talks over a new deal have been taking place and Solskjaer said last week he was optimistic terms would be agreed.
However, there has been no progress with Gomes, 19, over the weekend.
“I have not heard anything last night or this morning,” said Solskjaer on Monday. “If that is still the case, the answer is short: yes [he will leave].”
Gomes, who has been with United since the age of six, has featured for just 19 minutes in the Premier League this season.
The England Under-20 international became the club’s youngest Premier League player when he came off the bench at the age of 16 years 263 days against Crystal Palace in May 2017.
It is also expected the loans of Manchester United defender Chris Smalling and forward Alexis Sanchez will be extended at Roma and Inter Milan respectively.
In Sanchez’s case that will definitely be to the end of the Serie A season. However, there is doubt over whether the Chilean will remain for Inter’s Europa League campaign.
It is understood United are wary of letting Sanchez risk picking up an injury that would cause him to miss the start of the 2020-21 season, which is likely to start three weeks after the Europa League final.
Along with Henderson, Sheffield United have extended the deals of defenders Phil Jagielka and Kieron Freeman as well as midfielder Jack Rodwell and striker Leon Clarke for the remainder of the campaign.
However, midfielder Mo Besic has returned to Everton and defender Panos Retsos has gone back to to Bayer Leverkusen after loan deals with the Blades.
